Ms. Joan Purvis, 61, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at her home in Florence.
Ms. Purvis was born on August 8, 1964, in Florence County, daughter of the late Marion Ard and Betty Porter Jones. Ms. Purvis was a member of Gilead Free Will Baptist Church and a loving housewife and mother who found her greatest joy in her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a bubbly, outspoken personality that made her unforgettable to those who knew her. She loved spending time at the beach, enjoying the outdoors, and treating herself to meals from Taco Bell and Burger King — simple pleasures that brought her happiness and comfort.
Surviving are her children, Willie Joe Purvis, Jr. and Victoria Gauthier; grandchildren, Briona Hernandez, Bryce Hernandez and Jaxi Purvis; niece, April (Keith) Floyd; sister, Pearline Walden; brother, Billy Porter.
Ms. Purvis was preceded in death by her husband Willie Joe Purvis; and sister, Betty Faye Ard.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Carolina Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 3:00 PM in the chapel.
Burial will be private.
