Rev. Roger Dale Yarborough, Sr.

Reverend Roger Dale Yarborough, Sr., 74, of Scranton, husband of Martha Yarborough, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at MUSC Health Black River Medical Center.

Reverend Yarborough was born on November 4, 1951, in Florence County, son of the late Robert James "RJ" Yarborough and Evelyn Yarborough Adee. He worked for many years at a steel mill and later became a skilled sewing machine mechanic and salesman. In addition to his work, he faithfully pastored numerous churches across South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia before retiring to his hometown of Scranton. He found great joy in the simple things in life, especially fishing, spending time outdoors, and riding his tractor.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Martha Jones Yarborough; children, Roger Yarborough and Lisa Yarborough Lee; grandson, T.J. (Christina) Lee; 2 great grandchildren, Zayne Thompson and Anthony Thompson; special furry buddy, Riley; step brother, Pete Lee and step sister, Diane (Furman) Tanner; many nieces and nephews.

Reverend Yarborough was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William “Pete” Yarborough and Robert “Bill” Yarborough; sister, Helen Y. Hart; stepbrother, Jerry Lee; and stepmother, Margaret Yarborough.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Carolina Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel.

Burial will follow at Yarborough Family Cemetery, Scranton.
